Arthur "Uncle Pete" Chambers
Passed away Tuesday 5/28/13 at Geneva General Hospital surrounded by his family.
Pete was born in Himrod, NY 10/24/25 to Leon and Eva Hope (Howell) Chambers.
He joined the Army on March 13, 1944. He was a Technician 5th Class in the 1262nd Service Command Unit, 395th Infantry, 99th Division "Battle Babies." He was captured by the Germans and a POW.
Upon his return he was "captured" by Betty Jane Sisson for the next 60 years. They enjoyed playing Euchre and partying with close friends at and around their home. He...

Passed away Tuesday 5/28/13 at Geneva General Hospital surrounded by his family.
Pete was born in Himrod, NY 10/24/25 to Leon and Eva Hope (Howell) Chambers.
He joined the Army on March 13, 1944. He was a Technician 5th Class in the 1262nd Service Command Unit, 395th Infantry, 99th Division "Battle Babies." He was captured by the Germans and a POW.
Upon his return he was "captured" by Betty Jane Sisson for the next 60 years. They enjoyed playing Euchre and partying with close friends at and around their home. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding his tractor, listening to his records on a player retrieved in the '72 flood, going for rides and mostly sitting under his tree with family and friends.
Pete was a member of the American Legion Post 1571, VFW post 745, Duck Hunters Assoc., a Volunteer Fireman for Dresden Fire Dept. and the Dresden United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his brother Kenneth Chambers, children, Don (Lynn) Chambers, Tim (Peg) Chambers, Jane (Brad) Mc Court, Elaine (Tyler) Gray. Also his beloved Grand and Great Grand Children: Cadie (Chris) Brechbuler, Lucas and Emma Brechbuler of ID, Megan Chambers of OH, Kelly Chambers of SC, Jason Mc Court, Morgan (Lucas) Hegg, Rylan, Keller and Kendal Hegg of AK, Harlyn Hope Gray of Penn Yan/Dresden. His Sister-in-Law Virginia Dunning of Dresden, Thomas (Rosemary) Sisson, Brother-in- law Lyle Corey of Penn Yan, Sister in law Mary Chambers, his 3rd son, Jimmy Dunning, his 4th son Marty Jenkins Sr. and special Niece Diane Segura, his Extra Special Neighbors the Jenkins family, many Nieces, Nephews and wonderful friends.
Pete was predeceased by his wife Betty in 2007, brother Lee "Baldy" Chambers, Sister-In-Law Shirley Chambers and many beloved brothers and sisters-in-law on the Sisson side.
Friends and family may call from 12pm-2pm Sunday June 2nd at the Townsend-Wood Funeral Chapel with funeral services immediately following. Interment to follow at The Evergreen Cemetery in Dresden, with Military Honors.
